Susan Sznurkowski Obituary

Susan Lee Sznurkowski, affectionately known as “Suzy” to her friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2024, at the age of 72 in Hampton, Connecticut. Born on September 16, 1951, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Susan's vibrant spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her.

Susan was the cherished wife of Richard Sznurkowski Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and adventure, this May would have been 53 years.  They raised three children: Richard Sznurkowski, Jr. and his wife Heather, Mary-Jean Sznurkowski and her fiancé Konrad Buller, and Beth Ann Miner and her husband Christopher Miner, Sr.  Susan's joy was multiplied with the birth of each of her grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, and Joseph Miner, and Matthew, Andrew, and Ava Sznurkowski; siblings; Robert Morrison, Jr. and his wife Ivy, Jimmy Morrison and his wife Marsha, George Morrison, and Kathy Dzen and her husband Michael, will fondly recall her humor and the love she had for her extended family, including several nieces and nephews.

Suzy was a graduate of A.I. Prince Tech, where she honed her skills as a cosmetologist. Her work was not just a profession but a way to connect with people, something that came naturally to her. Known for her gift of gab, Susan never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving a lasting impression of kindness and genuine interest.

Her presence at family gatherings was a source of joy and her absence will be deeply felt.  Susan's interests reflected her love for life and those around her.  An adept crocheter, an avid reader, she enjoyed gardening and shopping, especially when it meant finding the perfect gifts to delight her loved ones.  But above all, Susan cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and family, moments that are now precious memories.

Travel was a passion for Susan and Richard, with their favorite trip being an unforgettable journey to Mexico. These adventures allowed them to explore new places and create lasting memories together, always returning home with stories to share and a renewed appreciation for each other.  Susan's legacy is one of love, laughter, and faith. She approached life with a sense of humor that could light up a room and a faith that could move mountains. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great comfort and community in her church. Susan's faith-filled life was an inspiration to many and a testament to her loving and compassionate spirit.  Her loving nature was the glue that held her family together, and her funny anecdotes will continue to bring smiles to their faces.

As we say goodbye to Susan Lee Sznurkowski, we celebrate a meaningful life, marked by an unwavering love of family, a generous heart, and a spirit that will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories told and the love shared. Susan's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of joy, compassion, and an enduring faith that will remain a comfort to all who were blessed to know her.
