James Tracy, Jr. Obituary

It is with much love and great sadness that we announce the passing of James P. Tracy, Jr., 61, of Norwich, CT on 4/20/2024. He was the son of the late James P. Tracy Sr., and Natalie (Rainville) Tracy-Pickett on March 26, 1963.

After graduating high school Jim worked for Stop & Shop, he then managed his own business running routes for Stateline and FedEx. Jim was an amazing athlete and, in his youth, he played baseball for 4 years, as well as football and basketball. He was a passionate sports fan, most notably the Red Sox, Celtics, Giants, Bruins, and of course the UConn Huskies, both men and women. Ask him about any game or play and he will gladly go into detail. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and grill-master; always well dressed for these events.

Jim’s greatest joy was raising his two children, Kelly and Bailey Tracy. He was immensely proud of their academic and life accomplishments, never missing an event or celebration.

Jim cherished his summers camping and fishing with his family as well as golfing in Mexico, at the Windham Country Club and many other locations. Bailey and her father shared a passion for photography and enjoyed exploring new locations and finding new subjects to capture. He loved watching Kelly’s football games and cheering the team on. Always an animal lover, he adored their cats Hobbs and Bobby, as well as their beagles Abby and Max. He was an avid player of Clash of Clans, always calculating his next attack and planning for war with his friend, Duain. He loved to smoke up delicious meals for friends and family. He also enjoyed sharing golfing tips with his great nephews and loved teaching the boys how to fish the streams and rivers of Connecticut. There was always something to learn when with Jim.

Jim will be deeply missed by his children Kelly Tracy, Bailey Tracy, her partner Neil Dickerman, their mother Kristen Tracy, and his siblings, Kathy & Joe Tenedine, Brian Tracy & his soulmate Marti Lavoy, Margaret DeVito, Jane Tracy, Liz & Ed Mackela, Patty & Michael Carr, Dan & Jessica Tracy, sister-in-law, Cindi & Duain Woodruff, and his father-in-law, Mark Coleman. Jim will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, great nephews, as well as his countless family and friends.

Above all else, Jim loved his children beyond measure and was fiercely loyal to family and friends and was always ready to lend a hand. Our worlds were brighter with Jim’s kind heart and warm smile.

A gathering will be arranged to celebrate Jim’s life at a future date.
