Patricia (Hewitt) Muckenstrom, 84, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 59 years, George Matthew Muckenstrom. Pat is survived by her son, Thomas Matthew Muckenstrom of Torrington, Connecticut; her daughter, Ellen (Muckenstrom) Felix of Marlborough, Connecticut and her husband, Paul Felix; and her two grandsons, Zachary Felix of Billings, Montana, and Joseph Felix of Houston, Texas. She also leaves her sister, Geraldine (Hewitt) Brunken, and her husband, Richard Brunken, of Webster, New York as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Born on April 9, 1941, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Eugene and Margaret (Brereton) Hewitt, Pat met her future husband, George, while working at Tektronix. In 1976, they went on to establish Connecticut Calibration Labs, which they successfully ran together until their retirement in 2002.
Pat was a passionate quilter, creating hundreds of stunning hand-quilted pieces over the years. However, it was the friendships she nurtured over her lifetime that truly defined her. Pat’s social circle was expansive, including her sister and cousins from Brooklyn, a lifelong friend from grammar school, colleagues from her early job at the telephone company, fellow members of the model airplane flying club, the Masuk band parents, the Peacemaker Quilters, water-skiing friends from Lake Zoar, and the dedicated ladies from both the Beckish Senior Center Quilters and the Busy Bees Quilters.
Pat's legacy lives on in the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone she encountered. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
There are no calling hours. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Columba Church, located at 328 CT-66, Columbia, CT.
