It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce that Evelyn Eva (Moore) Grenier passed away on April 14, 2024 in Haines City, FL surrounded by family. She was born in Willimantic, CT to Leon Moore and Leona (Racine) Moore on March 23, 1933. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Rene Ernest Grenier and her sister Theresa Moore.
Evelyn had a deep connection to God through her catholic faith and was a lifelong communicate of St Mary’s church in Willimantic. She worked many years at The Electro-Motive, in the cafeteria at Windham High School before working in the cafeteria at Windham Tech for many years before transitioning to Eastern CT state university until she retired in the mid 90’s. She was an avid polka dancer (and thoroughly enjoyed polka music until her last moments), UConn basketball, word searches, Lakeland Tigers games, traveling all over the world and her second home in Haines City, Florida. Evelyn had a strong dedication to her family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
She will be deeply missed by her sons, Paul Grenier of Willimantic, CT and John and her daughter in law Jenny Grenier of Haines City, FL, brother Roland Moore and her sister in law Rosemary Moore of Haines City, FL, grandchildren Michelle Studer (Seth) of Keene, NH, Andrea Grenier of Anchorage, AK, Lauren Molnar (Timotei) of Quaker Hill, CT, Samuel Grenier (Shayla) of South Windham, CT, great grandchildren Lonnie and Esek Studer of Keene, NH, Jase, Judith and baby Grenier of South Windham, CT, Godchildren Bruce Gould, Louise Maynard and Joseph Eichner. Close friend and caregiver in her last month’s Guy Nadeau, She will also be missed by many other family members and close family friends.
The family would like to thank the kind caregivers from Good Shephard (Florida) and all the wonderful neighbors in Florida that have given support and helping hands. Thank you to her medical staff in Florida and Connecticut.
Evelyn’s family will receive family and friends on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St. Willimantic. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Church, 46 Valley St. Willimantic. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery on Club Rd. Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary, Building Fund, 46 Valley St., Willimantic, CT 06226.
